Fall is the season of blankets. And most of us have more than we use.
The linen closet that’s slightly overstuffed. The throw that’s been on the same chair so long you’ve stopped seeing it. The pillow that’s been moved from room to room for years without ever quite belonging anywhere.
Before you add any new cozy things for the season, a quick audit of what you already have.
Try this:
Gather every blanket and throw in your home into one pile. Then sort:
- Keep and use: the ones you love, reach for regularly, and are in good condition.
- Keep but store: seasonal items worth holding onto, folded neatly and put away.
- Donate: extras in good condition that someone else would love.
- Release: worn out, pilling, or past their usefulness.
A good general rule: enough blankets for every person in the household to have one they love, plus a couple of extras for guests. Beyond that is storage, not comfort.
Less to manage. More of what you love within reach.
